As you probably already know, in Linux, everything is a file. Problems begin to arise when files run with elevated permissions. If you do not directly control the main script, try editing files that are imported, either directly or indirectly, by it.

Look carefully at what the privileged script loads before it does its work. If a root-run script reads from a location you control, consider what that means for execution context.
